In 2021, the majority of STEM workers in the U.S. are white (69%), followed by Asians (13%), blacks (9%) and Hispanics (7%).

The earnings gap between women and men is larger in the STEM workforce than it is among non-STEM occupations.

The most underrepresented groups in STEM include Black, Hispanic, American Indian, and Alaska Native peoples.
